Subpectoral-Subfascial Breast Augmentation: The Breast Solution for Thin-skinned Patients
Published:August 7th, 2011
Thin-skinned women can now have a good outcome in their breast augmentation. They have no reason to worry about possible palpable implants and rippling associated with their breast implants. Subpectoral-subfascial breast augmentation is now one of the management options for thin-skinned patients who want to have that more natural-looking, fuller pair of breast, according to a study published by a group of surgeons from Department of Plastic Surgery, College of Medicine, The Catholic University of Korea and published in the June 2011 issue of the journal entitled Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Thin patients usually have a problem about the post surgical appearance of their breasts. In most cases, breast augmentation procedures in thin individuals result in palpable implants and rippling appearance of the operated breast.
According to the said study, these patients who have a upper pole skin of less than 2 centimeters should undergo submuscular implant placement to have that ideal breast look. However, since most breast augmentation result in the visibility of implant, rippling and even palpability of implant in thin patients because of lack of muscle coverage over the lower and lateral areas of the breast, the combined subpectoral-subfascial breast augmentation is recommended. Subpectoral-subfascial breast augmentation includes the dissection of some of the abdominal muscles to compensate the lack of coverage in the lower part of the breast.
As mentioned in this study, the result of the subpectoral-subfascial breast augmentation is satisfactory, predictable and reproducible. The unideal breast results such as palpability of the breast implant and rippling becomes concealed with this particular surgical procedure. Therefore, the researchers of this study recommend this breast augmentation procedure to those thin patients who desire a larger pair of breasts. Through this technique, high-grade breast surgery results can be achieved. Not only will the breast look better after the breast augmentation, it will look quite natural too.
